5-27-09 SENNHEISER RELEASES THE G3 SERIES (REPLACING G2--G2 WILL BE DISCONTINUED)....The new 100, 300 and 500 G3 series rack-mount wireless products, which incorporate a broad range of enhancements to the company’s most successful wireless series, are now shipping. The ew 300 IEM G3 wireless monitoring system, along with portable ENG sets for reporters and filmmakers, are scheduled to ship in July.New features in Sennheiser’s G3 wireless systems promise easy setup and ensure that PA companies, established and up-and-coming performers, musicians, presenters and reporting teams can get up and running quickly. Featuring rugged metal housings, all G3 series true-diversity receivers now have a switching bandwidth of 42 MHz with 1,680 tunable UHF frequencies for interference-free reception. All third-generation receivers offer a new one-touch synchronization feature which enables G3 transmitters to communicate with G3 receivers via an infrared interface, simplifying setup dramatically.
The frequency management function makes more compatible frequencies available. The 500 series has up to 32 presets on 20 channel banks, and six additional banks can be freely programmed in 25 kHz steps. The 300 series supports 20 channel banks with up to 24 compatible presets each, and six further channel banks are freely programmable in 25 kHz steps. And finally, the 100 series offers 20 channel banks with up to 12 presets each, with one further channel bank freely programmable in 25 kHz steps.
On 500 and 300 series receivers, a built-in Ethernet port supports interconnection with a PC running Sennheiser's Wireless System Manager software. This provides monitoring and professional data management for multi-channel systems. For larger systems, the standard output power in both 300 and 500 series may be reduced from 30 mW to 10 mW in order to accommodate even more channels in a given frequency range.
A large, backlit dot matrix display provides access to enhanced menu options and information readouts. For faster access to the most important functions, the operating menu is now separated into a user level and an advanced level. The user level includes everyday functions such as frequency preset selection and audio levels, while the advanced level is reserved for more specialized programming, such as direct frequency selection, reset to factory settings and – for the 500 and 300 series – synchronization and warning settings. All receivers additionally display transmitter battery strength.
All G3 series receivers include an upgraded Soundcheck Mode that was only previously available on the G2 500 series models. Soundcheck Mode can now be operated even during the performance, and the audio and field strength levels are continuously measured, with the receiver recording the maximum values for AF and the minimum values for RF. In addition, the highly popular 500 series five-band equalizer is now included in all G3 series.
With the audio frequency range of all G3 receivers now extended from 18 kHz down to 25 Hz, the systems are eminently suited to use with bass guitar. The 500 and 100 series Instrument Sets additionally offer a guitar tuner mode for tuning an instrument right on the receiver. Another enhancement for instrument use is the guitar cable emulator, which allows users to dial in the typical change in the sound caused by the capacitance of the guitar cable.
The switching power supply in all G3 receivers is ideal for touring acts and rental companies who need a wireless solution that can be powered from worldwide sources. The tip of the power supply can be changed to suit the AC power plug requirements of a particular country. Offering an environmentally friendly option that also reduces running costs, all portable transmitters and receivers may be powered by optional Sennheiser BA 2015 rechargeable battery packs instead of standard batteries. For this, the portable devices (with the exception of the plug-on transmitter) are fitted with external charging contacts so that the battery pack may be conveniently recharged while still in thetransmitter.
4-21-09 SENNHEISER INTRODUCES NEW ENTRY LEVEL 2000 SERIES (REPLACING THE SR350) PROFESSIONAL WIRELESS MICROPHONE SYSTEM....The 2000 Series includes rugged products for a wide range of wireless applications. Handheld and body-pack transmitters with single or twin receivers are available for stage, broadcasting and installed sound applications. For monitoring, professional users can combine the diversity receivers of the series with single or twin monitor transmitters. The outstanding features of the 2000 Series are a high level of frequency flexibility and multi-channel capability with professional control via the Wireless Systems Manager software delivering a well-thought-out menu structure and superb audio quality,” explained Dawn Birr, product manager for professional wireless systems. “In addition, the 2000 Series is backwards compatible with all generations of evolution wireless products and the familiar professional accessories of our 3000 and 5000 Series – including clip-on microphones, antennas, boosters and combiners.”
With its many convenient extras, the 2000 Series makes setting up multi-channel systems fast and simple. Depending on the UHF range, the units have a switching bandwidth of up to 72 MHz in the US, in which up to 64 compatible frequency presets are available for microphones and up to 32 for monitoring systems. The rack-mount units can transmit their frequency data, name, sensitivity, low cut, etc. to the corresponding portable transmitters or receivers via an infrared interface. An antenna loop-through socket and an integrated active splitter allow up to eight rack receivers to be daisy-chained quickly and easily. The systems can be conveniently monitored and controlled by a PC, and for this purpose all rack-mount transmitters and receivers are equipped with an Ethernet socket. The Wireless Systems Manager provides a comprehensive range of functions and is currently the only software available on the market that can monitor and control semi-professional and professional microphone and monitoring systems of different generations at the same time.
In order to focus either on maximum operational reliability for multi-channel applications or on a greater range, depending on the application, the transmitter output power can be switched between 10, 30, 50 and 100mW.

12-16-08: Sennheiser Electronic Corporation has introduced a rebate program in preparation for the imminent ruling by the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) that will restrict the use of wireless mics operating in the so-called 700 MHz band. To receive a rebate, users must purchase new Sennheiser systems and components in an alternate range and trade-in an equal number of old wireless systems or components, including non-Sennheiser brands, that currently operate in frequencies between 698 – 806 MHz. The twelve-month program includes tiered rebates of up to $1,400 or a simple flat rebate.
The tiered rebate program, unique to Sennheiser, is the most equitable rebate program available today and takes into consideration, not only the product series but also, when the old system was purchased. This applies to evolution wireless G2 products purchased in 2006 and 2007. End-users who purchased as recently as December 2007 qualify for the maximum rebate.
Sennheiser is also offering a simple flat rebate for all systems and components that don't qualify for the tiered program. For example, a flat rebate applies to the trade-in of other manufacturers' systems, Sennheiser freePORT or older evolution wireless systems.
For Sennheiser 3000 and 5000 series RF systems, which have the most flexible RF architecture available, Sennheiser continues to offer its cost-effective frequency re-tuning services. Users should call (860) 434-9190 for re-tuning service details. Sennheiser is also offering rebates of $500.00 per channel ($1,000 for dual channel systems) for upgrades to the latest 3000 and 5000 series components.
The rebate form and program details can be downloaded from Sennheiser USA's website. Rebate claims must be postmarked no later than December 15, 2009, and received by December 31, 2009 at SEC's headquarters in Old Lyme, Connecticut.
